Deep diving
Far beneath the waves
A professional dive watch not only needs to be water resistant, it
must also be tough enough to withstand the water pressure of
even the deepest of oceans. The deeper the diver descends, the
greater the pressure on the watchcase. Providing the resilience
needed to protect the fine mechanical movement inside the
Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean, the case and outer protection
are made of the most robust of materials, such as, titanium,
18-carats gold and stainless steel.
And naturally, the case glass is made of sapphire crystal. The
combined benefits of these hardy materials ensure that the Omega
Seamaster Planet Ocean Collection offers an amazing water
resistance of 60 bar / 600m / 2000ft.
Each OMEGA Seamaster Planet Ocean watch is equipped with a helium escape valve. This decompression system allows helium to escape from inside the watch when it is worn by professional divers in pressure chambers. Their breathing gases in diving bells can contain helium. Helium atoms are so small that these particles can find their way inside a watch. When the diver resurfaces, the pressure difference between these trapped gases and the external environment could damage the watch. The helium escape valve prevents this from happening.
