New Delhi, February 11, 2008 – OMEGA, one of the world’s most prestigious watchmakers, has honoured excellence in another challenging field. The official timekeeper and co-sponsor of the Indian Masters golf tournament awarded tournament winner and crowd favourite S. S. The Double Eagle Chronograph, which defines sporty elegance, features OMEGA’s proprietary Co-Axial Escapement for outstanding precision stability and durability.  The officially-certified chronometer also has a column-wheel mechanism, the sign of a superior chronograph.

The Indian Masters brought some of the best players in the world to the Indian capital for the richest event in Indian golf.

This tournament, which began on February 4, had a field which included well-known Indian and international golfers such as Ernie Els, Thomas Bjorn, Jeev Mikha Singh, Jyoti Randhawa, and Mark O’Meara competing for the trophy, which was awarded by OMEGA President Stephen Urquhart and OMEGA Brand Ambassador Abhishek Bachchan.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Urquhart said: “It was a pleasure to witness brilliant strokes by the masters. As a great admirer of distinction in every field, and as a lover of the game, I personally found it enthralling to watch such excellence at play. OMEGA is delighted to be associated with the Indian Masters golf tournament.”

Abhishek Bachchan commented: “What brings OMEGA, golf and me together is our dedication to mastering the art of style and the science of technical expertise. Both OMEGA and the game of golf unite the art and science of their respective metiers. As an artist, that is something that I always aim to achieve.”

OMEGA is one of the few watch brands in the world with a history and tradition that can compete with those of golf. OMEGA’s association with sports dates back to 1932, when it was the first company to be named Official Timekeeper for all Olympic Games disciplines. At the Games of the XXIX Olympiad in Beijing, OMEGA will serve as Official Timekeeper for the 23rd time.
