Apolo Anton Ohno, the most decorated U.S. Winter Olympian of all time and OMEGA Ambassador, visited the OMEGA Flagship Boutique on Fifth Avenue in New York City on Thursday, March 4th for a special event following his history-making performance in Vancouver.

The speed skating star made a special presentation on Thursday, donating his personal OMEGA Seamaster Planet Ocean Olympic Timeless Collection chronograph to join the “Ambassador Collection Series” of autographed watches, joining fellow OMEGA Ambassadors Michael Phelps, Sergio Garcia and Buzz Aldrin as part of the collection.

“I’m excited to be here in New York City today to donate my personal OMEGA watch to the Fifth Avenue Flagship Boutique,” said Ohno.  “Having my watch alongside those of Olympic gold medalist Michael Phelps, golfer Sergio Garcia and legendary astronaut Buzz Aldrin is quite an honor.”

As the brand’s newest Ambassador, Ohno helped the brand celebrate its rich Olympic history and Great Olympic Moments in Time at the Vancouver Games.

OMEGA has a rich Olympic history, dating back to 1932.  At the Vancouver Games, OMEGA served its role as Official Timekeeper for the 24th time, responsible for timing every Olympic event as well as data handling, the display of results at the venues, and the distribution of the results to the world’s media.  The brand deployed the largest timekeeping contingent in the history of winter sport at the Vancouver Games, mobilizing 235 professional timekeepers and data handlers, 290 specially-selected and trained volunteers, and more than 250 tons of equipment.

In addition to its role as Official Timekeeper of the Olympic Games, OMEGA has been behind many of the most important technological developments in all of sports timekeeping – including new technologies for the sport of speed skating, many of which Ohno has experience first-hand.
