OMEGA comes to Seattle

Back

The brand’s new flagship store opens at the historic Fairmont Olympic Hotel in the heart of the city on University Street. As the Pacific Northwest’s Grand Dame hotel, The Fairmont Olympic is Seattle’s premier luxury hotel and The Arcade Shops at The Fairmont Olympic hotel have become a well-known, exclusive destination for shoppers.

OMEGA President Stephen Urquhart celebrated the opening of the Seattle boutique with a cocktail reception Tuesday, Dec. 7, held in conjunction with the Seattle Art Museum. The event served as the recognition of a partnership between the museum and OMEGA, which is sponsoring the upcoming exhibit Nick Cave: Meet Me at the Center of the Earth.

The Seattle Boutique is an important part of OMEGA’s larger retail strategy.  In December of 2000, Nicolas Hayek, the Chairman of the Swatch Group, made a bold announcement at the grand opening of the first OMEGA Boutique in Zurich, stating that OMEGA’s ambitious goal was to extend the corporate boutique network to include 50 retail shops devoted exclusively to OMEGA products within ten years.  By 2008, OMEGA had already met that target.

This boutique is one of nine new OMEGA boutiques to open in the United States this year, is a central component of the next phase of the brand’s retail growth. Twenty more boutiques are slated to open in 2011.

OMEGA President Stephen Urquhart said that the brand’s new Flagship Boutique in Seattle reflects his company’s enthusiasm for the market.  “Seattle is an extraordinary city and we are looking forward to establishing a solid presence in the Pacific Northwest.  The OMEGA Boutique is a perfect way to showcase our products in what we know will be a great market for our brand.”
