Omega sets the tone at ODLM 2010

Back

As the last remaining spectators were marveling at the spectacular sunset behind the dramatic skyscraper-laden backdrop of the Emirates Golf Course, organizers and title sponsors of the OMEGA Dubai Ladies Masters (ODLM) were already looking forward to next year’s event – the sixth overall and the third with OMEGA as its title sponsor. It was a hectic week on and off the course with exciting competition among some of the world’s greatest lady golfers culminating with the breathtaking duel between the UK’s Melissa Reid and Denmark’s Iben Tinning, the tournament’s winner on her final professional match.

As a constant reminder for her 12 years on the tour and her priceless victory in Dubai, OMEGA presented her with a OMEGA Constellation Polished Gold on Gold timepiece. The watch has a 24mm 18 Ct gold case and its ‘Dauphine plume’ hands are also made of 18 Ct gold and coated with Super-LumiNova, making them easy to read in any light conditions. The elegance of the watch is underscored by its bezel which is paved with 28 diamonds. The striking chocolate dial features a dramatic supernova pattern emanating from the Constellation star at the 6 o’clock position. She gracefully accepted it and walked away from the lavish prize giving ceremony presided over by HRH Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein.

OMEGA Ambassador Michelle Wie, the sensational 21-year-old American, also had a highly competitive last day where she managed to record one of the tournament’s best scores, securing a top ten spot.

It was clear that Ms. Wie’s popularity hasn't faded. Dozens of fans ambushed her for an autograph as soon as she left OMEGA’s hospitality suite where she met and greeted many of the brand’s partners and collectors. “Lovely set up, wonderful views and nice people. I look already forward to next year’s event,” said Michelle. “I have thoroughly enjoyed the course, the crowd and the beautiful weather,” she continued.

Michelle had earlier in the week visited the OMEGA Boutique at the Emirates Golf Course grounds where she also met with fans and the media after being presented with two of the brand’s most recently launched timepieces.

The OMEGA hospitality suite was buzzing throughout the tournament with a series of events that included an editors’ lunch attended by 55 representatives of the Middle East’s most prominent sports and luxury press as well as personalized product presentations. And OMEGA guests also had plenty of opportunities to have their picture taken with a number of pros visiting the suite.
