Spain’s Alvaro Quiros is presented with the OMEGA Dubai Desert Classic trophy by HH Sheikh Maktoum Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, in the presence of Mr. Raynald Aeschlimann, Vice President and International Sales Director,OMEGA, the title sponsor of the 22nd Dubai Desert Classic, one of the most hotly contested events in this year’s European calendar.

The 27-year-old Spaniard’s prowess as one of the longest off the tee in the European Tour gave him the advantage over his nearest rivals on a windy fourth day out at the Emirates Golf Club in Dubai to claim his fifth European Tour title as he becomes the fourth Spaniard to reign in the Majlis course since the tournament’s inception in 1989.

Quiros had finished 2nd at the Qatar Masters last week, a tournament he won last year.

The prestigious 18 Ct red gold Seamaster Aqua Terra Co-Axial Chronometer was presented to the winner together with the Arabian coffee-pot shaped tournament trophy, following a thrilling event which saw some of the toughest competition the European Tour has ever seen.

“We are delighted to present this exquisite timepiece to Alvaro. The Co-Axial calibre 8501 is well suited to professional golfers whose careers take them all over the world. The hour hand can be changed independently of the other hands, making adjustments to different time zones very easy,” said Mr. Raynald Aeschlimann.

The stunning Seamaster Aqua Terra Co-Axial Chronometer is distinguished by the ‘teak-concept’ vertical lines on its dial which are reminiscent of the wood decks of luxury boats. The winner’s watch is presented with an 18 Ct red gold case and a brown leather alligator leather strap with an 18 Ct red golf fold-over clasp.”

OMEGA’s association with high profile international sporting events goes back a long way. Its involvement with world class golf events includes its title sponsorship of the OMEGA Dubai Ladies Masters, the OMEGA Mission Hills World Cup, the oldest and most prestigious global golf team event in the world, and the OMEGA European Masters in Crans-Montana, Switzerland, which has attracted the finest of professional golfers for over a decade.
