Rory McIlroy and Sergio Garcia teed off on a gloriously sunny day at Emirates Golf Club in Dubai to get the 26th edition of the OMEGA Dubai Desert Classic underway.
The Northern Irishman, McIlroy, is looking to reclaim the OMEGA Dubai Desert Classic trophy which he lifted in 2009, a feat which is highly achievable based on his fantastic year in 2014 which included back-to-back major victories. He appears to be in top form to dominate a field full of the world’s best golfers. Since McIlroy won the OMEGA Dubai Desert Classic he has consistently finished in the tournament's top ten, showing that there is great potential for him to succeed once again.
Meanwhile, Spaniard Sergio Garcia will be looking to earn his first win at the OMEGA Dubai Desert Classic and join the five countrymen who have lifted the coveted trophy in previous years.
The OMEGA Dubai Desert Classic, a part of the European Tour is considered the top professional golfing tournament in the Middle East and in recent years has risen to become a widely recognized and reputed tournament on the world circuit.
