The last man on the moon joined Omega in Tarragona to participate in the Onda Rambla golf tournament

Back

The last man on the moon, Eugene A. Cernan, joined Omega in Tarragona to participate in the Onda Rambla golf tournament, held each year in honour of Spain's premier radio journalist Luis del Olmo.

Gene Cernan, astronaut and retired American Navy Captain, has become one of Omega's most legendary and mythical ambassadors. His first voyage into space was on the Gemini IX mission in 1966, when he made a record 2 hour 10 minute space walk. On board the Apollo X mission in 1969, he steered the "Snoopy" module to within 10 miles of the moon's surface. Three years later he became the last man to walk on the moon, as a member of the Apollo XVII mission. Gene Cernan is currently President of The Cernan Corporation, a space-related technology and marketing company based in Houston, USA. His numerous distinguished accolades include the NASA Distinguished Service Medal.

Omega was pleased to be able to combine the worlds of space and golf, thanks to Gene Cernan's love of the sport. At the Onda Rambla golf tournament , held on 17 February in Tarragona, he proved to be very popular among golfers and spectators alike.
