OMEGA and Pierce Brosnan in Times Square

Back

Despite the rainy weather, a crowd of thousands gathered in Times Square to see James Bond himself present the brand new limited edition Omega Seamaster Professional 007 watch.

In as grand an entrance as only 007 can make, Pierce Brosnan made his appearance after a 'ferocious' Bond trivia contest based on questions that ranged from which Bond film was shot in New York to who was the most notorious villain in 007 history? The celebrity trivia contest was won by Jamie-Lynn Sigler, star of The Sopranos, over Robert Wuhl from Arliss.

Jamie-Lynn won the new limited edition Omega watch but as there was no watch to be 'found' Pierce Brosnan chivalrously removed his watch and presented it to her. But 007 wasn't without a watch for long as Stephen Urquhart, President of Omega watches stepped up on stage to make sure he was fitted with the latest limited edition timepiece, which sports the legendary 007 logo on its dial.

Brosnan seemed to be enjoying himself here in New York. When he pulled up to Times Square in his limousine, he was hanging out the window taking pictures of the huge crowds of people lined up to catch a glimpse of him and the event.

In a later interview, Brosnan spoke of Bond, life and time and said, " On a good day, I manage time, on a bad day, time rules me - like any man." Brosnan also feels that Ian Fleming himself would have "praised the Omega Seamaster watch" and that he would have admired the "handsome look" of the watch both in and out of the Bond films.

The exhibit of Bond memorabilia, including the Ski-Doo from "Die Another Day," the original Q-boat and two flying Parahawks from "The World Is Not Enough" was presented alongside a chronicle of the four OMEGA Seamasters, worn and often used to escape life threatening situations in past 007 films. This array of memorabilia was viewed by tourists from every nation passing through Times Square, those who commute to work through Times Square daily and the many Bond enthusiasts who were lined up from the early hours of the morning.
