OMEGA As Title Sponsor Of The European Masters

Back

OMEGA is pleased to herald the dawn of a new era in the European Masters golf tournament. At a press conference today, the prestige Swiss watchmaker, together with tournament organiser IMG, provided details of this year's OMEGA European Masters.

OMEGA's 5-year partnership as Title Sponsor of the European Masters underscores the brand's strong association with golf and represents a natural progression from its four years as a co-sponsor of the tournament . The brand's commitment to the tournament fits in perfectly with its worldwide association with golf, which includes activities as Title Sponsor of the Hong Kong Open and Official Timekeeper of the US PGA TOUR and the SENIOR PGA TOUR.

At today's press conference, an entirely new graphic design concept for the tournament was presented, including a new golf logo to emphasise OMEGA's involvement. The new design gives a fresh, strong identity to the tournament's visual communications.

The organisers also announced the golfers who will be playing in the OMEGA European Masters, including top names that will ensure an exciting tournament. Worthy of particular note are OMEGA ambassador and current number three in the world golf rankings, Ernie Els, who played in last year's OMEGA Swiss Pro-Am, and Lee Westwood, winner of the 1999 European Masters and current number 4 in the world.

As OMEGA President Stephen Urquhart summarised at the conference, "we have had strong links with golf for a number of years, through our sponsorship of major tournaments around the world and our association with Ernie Els since 1995. Having further strengthened our global presence in golf at the start of the new millennium, we aim to be one of the driving forces behind the world's top-class golf tournaments".

The OMEGA European Masters tournament takes place in Crans-Montana, Switzerland from the 6th to 9th September 2001.
