Back

Bullfighter Enrique Ponce was overall winner of the first-ever Omega golf tournament in Spain, which took place on 6 May at the Real Sociedad Hípica Española Club de Campo. Skier Blanca Fernández Ochoa and the great legend of the Spanish national handball team, Cecilio Alonso, were second in their categories. All three were presented with the new OMEGA Seamaster Aqua Terra watch, which Ponce's victory also securing him a place in the OMEGA Pro-Am tournament at the OMEGA European Masters in September in the picturesque Swiss Alpine resort of Crans-Montana.

The star-studded player list included basketball players Juan Antonio Corbalán and José Luis Llorente, handball stars Lorenzo Rico and Juan de la Puente, Formula 1 driver Luis Pérez Sala, journalists Lorenzo and Mercedes Milá, María Escario and Matías Prats and actor Francis Lorenzo. Broadcaster Luis del Olmo – a great fan of golf – and Carlos Cardenas, OMEGA Brand Manager for Spain, presented the lucky winners with their prizes.

Despite the cold and wind that the players had to face all day, Spain's first-ever OMEGA golf tournament was a complete success.
