Round eight of the 2003 OMEGA Swiss Golf Trophies: the competition is hotting up!

Back

With only four more rounds to go, the battle to obtain a place in the Grand Final of the 2003 OMEGA Swiss Golf Trophies is becoming ever more intense. The spectacular final in which winners from all twelve rounds of the competition will play against each other promises to be an unforgettable occasion: the event, which will take place in Crans-Montana, has been organised so as to coincide with the OMEGA European Masters which will be held at the same resort from 4-7 September.

Round eight of the tournament was co-organised by prestigious watch manufacturer OMEGA and the watch and jewellery boutique Federer AG, Rorschach. An impressive turnout of 130 players took part in the match that was hosted by the Golf Club Erlen. Participants enjoyed breathtaking views of the "Säntis" mountains and the great lake of Bodensee. Ideal weather conditions – warm sunshine and blue skies – made for a great day of golf. The standard of play was very high, with an average handicap of between 10 and 20. This annual OMEGA-sponsored event is always extremely popular with club members and is booked out early – in fact, this year, the first flight had to begin at 6:40 am! Afterwards, guests enjoyed a pleasant apéritif before attending the prize-giving ceremony in which the winner, Mr Reto Aeberhard from the Ybrig Golf Club, was presented with his ticket to the Final in Crans-Montana.

Nicole Schumacher Federer, managing partner of Federer AG, Rorschach, was delighted with the proceedings. She said, "The atmosphere was terrific this year and it was especially nice because it was a familiar atmosphere: this is now the fourth time that we have organised this event with OMEGA. The partnership has proved very advantageous for us in terms of the opportunities for business networking that it affords".

Round nine of the 2003 OMEGA Swiss Golf Trophies will take place on 27 July in the Davos Golf Club and round ten on 28 July at the Arosa Golf Club.
