The penultimate round of the 2003 OMEGA Swiss Golf Trophies was an exciting occasion, in which players revealed genuine sporting talent and ambition in their attempts to win the coveted first prize: the chance to compete in the Grand Final in Crans-Montana, organised so as to coincide with the OMEGA European Masters, due to take place in the same resort from 4-7 September. This eleventh round took place in a spectacular location, 2815m above sea level, with a wonderful view of the Matterhorn.
The event was organised by prestige watchmaker OMEGA and the Bijouterie Schindler Zermatt, represented by Mr Kurt Schindler. After a superb day's play by club members and several VIPs – including Conrad Hallenbarter (the ex cross-country skier) – guests attended the prize-giving ceremony which was followed by a traditional Swiss "Raclette-Plausch" (similar to fondue).
The winners of this penultimate round, earning their place in the finale at Crans-Montana, were Mrs Alexandra Wollersheim (Ladies' Event – Strokeplay Brutto) and Mr Martin Wandflueh (Men's Event – Stokeplay Brutto).
