FROM THE MOON TO THE SUN

More than 35 years after first landing on the Moon, OMEGA has taken up another formidable challenge also destined to make history. In 2009, a Solar Impulse prototype with a 61-metre wingspan will take off on its maiden flight, flying 36 hours powered only by the sun. OMEGA is playing an active role as one of Solar Impulse’s Main Partners, providing financial support and significant technological expertise. The Solar Impulse plane will later circumnavigate the globe, powered day and night by nothing but solar energy. This venture will contribute substantially to the scientific and ecological development of alternative means of sustainable energy for the future.
