Our pioneering spirit has taken us to the Moon, helped us conquer the oceans’ depths, and allowed us to time the world’s most important sporting events. At the same time, we were setting precision records and have been continuously re-defining state-of-the-art mechanical watchmaking since 1848.
Baselworld 2010
OMEGA looks forward to welcoming old acquaintances and new friends to BaselWorld – the World Watch and Jewellery Show which takes place this year from the 18th to the 25th of March at Basel’s Exhibition Square (Messeplatz).

OMEGA can trace its history back to 1848. Since the beginning, the brand has been defined by the pioneering spirit that has led to the conquest of space and the oceans’ depths, timekeeping at the world’s best sporting events and the kind of innovative technology which led to the creation of the Co-Axial escapement. OMEGA’s watches have been worn by adventurers and heads of state as well as superstars and spies. Olympic Timekeeping History
OMEGA’s Olympic Games legacy is an important part of our brand. In Vancouver and Whistler, we are assuming the timekeeping role for the 24th time. Here you will find an entertaining review of all 24 as well as a look ahead to some of our future Olympic Games adventures. OMEGA and the IOC recently extended their agreement through 2020.
Speedmaster History
When OMEGA launched the first Speedmaster chronograph in 1957 we had no idea that it would become the most storied chronograph watch of all time or that its role in history would be fixed in July of 1969 when, strapped to Buzz Aldrin’s spacesuit, it became the first watch to be worn on the Moon. It is still standard equipment for every NASA piloted flight.
