Edition 2

The opulent “Olympic Games Edition” of OMEGA Lifetime magazine is dedicated to the 2008 Olympic Games and to the country which is hosting them.

China has been undergoing a radical transformation in recent years and OMEGA Lifetime offers readers intimate views of the new China: there’s an article about the MAD, the country’s world-beating architectural studio and their work. Fashion coverage includes features about designer Jenni Ji and Chinese supermodel Du Juan. There are also profiles of controversial performance artist Zhang Huan and culinary superstar JinR.

On the 8th of August, 2008, the Opening Ceremony of the Olympic Games will take place at 8:08 p.m. The man behind the ceremony is audacious Chinese filmmaker Zhang Yimou whose compelling professional odyssey is detailed here. Lifetime’s “Olympic Games Edition” looks at the great legends of past Olympics as well as some of the world’s greatest competitive swimmers who are looking to make Olympic history in Beijing.

Along with coverage of the modern Games, there is a riveting look back at the ancient Olympics – it’s safe to say that the Olympiad has changed considerably over the centuries.

Our reportage on the Olympics would not be complete without a history of sports timekeeping from handheld stopwatches in the early years of the 20th century to the microsecond freeze frame scans which will be used in Beijing. The magazine also includes the definitive Guide to the Beijing 2008 Games listing all 302 final events scheduled for the 17 days of the Games.

The issue is rounded out with a revealing interview with Swatch Group CEO Nick Hayek and rocker/photographer Bryan Adams’s pictorial feature on OMEGA’s favourite supermodel, Cindy Crawford.
