OMEGA is defined by its pioneering spirit. The brand has participated actively in some of the most challenging, fascinating adventures in human history: the conquest of space, including all six lunar landings; the first divers’ watch in 1932 (we’ve been creating state-of-the-industry timepieces for underwater use ever since); more precision records than any other watch brand; world-class sports timekeeping, including 24 Olympic Games; an airplane designed to fly around the Earth powered only by the sun.
Speedmaster History
The OMEGA Speedmaster is the world’s most famous chronograph. Its place in history is guaranteed by the fact that it was approved by NASA for all of its piloted space flights and it has been a part of every mission since the end of the Mercury program, including all six lunar landings. It is still the official chronograph on every NASA flight.
Space Missions
The OMEGA Speedmaster Professional is particularly well known for its visits to the Moon but its space legacy is so much greater. It was part of every manned Gemini and Apollo mission, the Apollo Soyuz Test Project, and Skylab.
Orbital Stations
The cosmonauts on the MIR Space Station and the astronauts, scientists and engineers who have had an uninterrupted presence on the International Space Station since 2000 have conducted pioneering experiments and tested the limits of human endurance.
Solar Impulse
The Solar Impulse project aims to circumnavigate the globe in an airplane powered only by the sun. OMEGA has contributed essential capital and technical support to the project which can ultimately benefit our entire planet.

For nearly a decade, the International Space Station has had an uninterrupted presence of engineers and scientists from around the world. We will regularly update the activities of these adventurous men and women, all equipped with Speedmasters, on this site.
Space Ambassadors
OMEGA is proud to work closely with three of the most celebrated astronauts in history. Buzz Aldrin, Eugene Cernan and Thomas Stafford’s combined nine space flights made space history. They embody OMEGA’s pioneering spirit.
