Prestige watchmaker OMEGA hosted its annual National Retailers' Seminar in Nanjing, China, from 17 to 19 Octboer 2003. The event proved to be a highly successful occasion, with the presence of over 200 retailers and media representatives from all over China.
The theme for this year's National Retailers' Seminar was the tenth anniversary of OMEGA's re-entry into the Chinese market in 1993. The theme also coincided with the tenth anniversary of the National Retailers' Seminar itself. Over the last ten years, the success of the brand in China has grown enormously. Indeed, when the first National Retailers' Seminar took place in Beijing ten years ago, only 30 retailers attended.
From its first entry into the Swatch Group office established in Shanghai in 1993, OMEGA is now represented in all four Swatch Group offices covering the major regions of China including Beijing, Guangzhou and Shenyang. Leveraging the popularity of the brand and its strong potential for future growth, OMEGA has established over 180 official retailers and 8 Flagship stores in China.
Guests watched a recorded welcome speech by Mr Nicolas G. Hayek, Chairman of the Board of Directors of The Swatch Group, which was displayed on wide screens in a conference room. Many of the Seminar's activities were focused on the dynamic development of OMEGA businesses in China, including a special strategic market overview presented by Mr Kevin Rollenhagen, Vice President of OMEGA China and Hong Kong. In addition, Mr Jean-Claude Monachon, VP Product Manager came from Switzerland to give a special presentation entitled "The Past, Present and Future of OMEGA". The brand's business strategy for China and upcoming marketing activities were also presented to retailers. The guests were entertained by Taiwanese singer, Huang Ping Yuan, and had the exclusive opportunity to view new OMEGA products for 2004.
