OMEGA European Masters - Second Round

Swede Robert Karlsson today seemed unwilling to give up the OMEGA red jacket that Cindy Crawford presented him with when he won in Crans-Montana last year. His three birdies on the front nine were almost cancelled out by a double bogey on the third and a bogey on the fifth, though a magnificent 30-foot birdie putt on the 13th more than made up for this. However, Karlsson was left with only a slender one-stroke lead over another former winner, Argentinean Eduardo Romero, at the end of the day.

OMEGA ambassador Ernie Els and playing partner Michael Campbell (New Zealand) continued to feed off each other again, matching their scores stroke-for-stroke on more than half of their second-round holes. Els's fellow countryman Trevor Immelman put in an impressive five under par score of 66 to complete the group of three players who finished the day on eight under par.

After a shaky start, newly christened OMEGA ambassador Sergio Garcia didn't drop a single shot over the back nine, keeping his score at five under thanks to an eagle on the 15th.
