The day's 15,000 spectators enjoyed the full excitement of a constantly changing leaderboard during the third round of the OMEGA European Masters. The last three matches out in particular suffered from considerable problems on the back nine holes, with Ernie Els balancing out five bogeys on the back nine with three birdies on the last few holes.
Yesterday's leader Robert Karlsson had his fair share of problems, too, hitting a double bogey on the 10th that prevented him from improving on his second round score of ten under par. However, the problems on the way back in seemed to have little effect on Eduardo Romero. A two-time winner in Crans-Montana, the Argentinean got off to a flying start with an eagle on the first hole and finished the third round 13 under par.
