After setting a first round course record of 60, the OMEGA ambassador had a nail-biting final round at the Royal Melbourne Golf Club in Victoria, which saw him lose his eight shot lead over only nine holes.
The South African managed to recover his lead over Australian playing partner Adam Scott over the back nine, finally winning the tournament by a slender one-shot margin. The Heineken Classic title represents Els's 50th professional victory worldwide and once again places him top of the Volvo Order of Merit. (Photo by Mark Dadswell/Getty Images).
