OMEGA at the 11th Entertainment Classics

Prestige Swiss watch brand OMEGA was main sponsor of the "Entertainment Classics" golf tournament for the first time this year. The tournament was held in glorious sunshine at the Golfclub Beuerberg in Munich on 24 June 2004. Many famous guests accepted the invitation of organiser Ulrich Scheele, Managing Director of the Entertainment Media Verlag, to play for against the picturesque Alpine panorama. Guests included Axel Schulz, Mario Basler, Sascha Hehn, Sonja Zietlow, Michael Schanze, Ralph Siegel and Fritz Wepper.

The 18 flights teed off at midday and after five hours’ play the players congregated on the club terrace to share their experiences and their scores. The day’s winners were announced at the Players’ Night: Markus Merbach, Manager of the OMEGA Boutique in Munich, presented a ladies’ and gents’ Double Eagle model to Claudia Rassmann (PGA) and Ex-ice hockey star Erich Kühnhackl. Sonja Zietlow and Axel Schulz received an OMEGA jacket for the ladies’ longest drive and the gents’ nearest to the pin respectively.

Omega has had strong ties with golf for a number of years. The brand is official timekeeper of the PGA Tour and title sponsor of the Omega European Masters in Crans-Montana, Switzerland. Even the name of the new Constellation Double Eagle is taken from golf. Only a few golfers can dream of achieving this elusive score of three under par on a hole.
