Omega National Retailer Seminar 2004, Lijiang China


The beautiful city Lijiang, located in Yunnan province was filled with excitement as more than 200 Omega retailers and over 20 media gathered there to attend the Omega National Retailer Seminar. As a renowned Swiss watch brand, Omega has won a high reputation worldwide.

Mr. Stephen Urquhart, the President of Omega, Mr. Raynald Aeschlimann, Vice President of Sales and Mr. Kevin Rollenhagen, Vice President of Omega China and Hong Kong attended the seminar and brought their sincere thanks and good wishes to the Chinese retailers.

Mr. Stephen Urquhart was very excited to visit China the second time this year. He said,” Omega has committed to the long-term development of the Chinese market and we always put China in a strategic position in our global development. At the beginning of this year, we held a press conference for the launch of our new advertising campaign -“Choices” with Cindy Crawford - our global ambassador and other Asian ambassadors. In 2004, we quickened our steps in exploring the Chinese market. Till May of 2004, we have opened a total of 12 flagship stores in China, which outnumbered all other countries in the number of flagship stores. I guess the other thing worth mentioning is that we are happy to have Miss Coco Lee, the world’s famous singer, and Mr. Tung Hopin, the first Chinese Formula 3 racer joining us as new Omega Ambassadors. We are happy to see that Omega has been more and more popular in China. Meanwhile, we are very proud that our sales volume has remained at the top of imported watches in the Chinese market. In the future, Omega will continue its commitment to the long-term development of the Chinese market.

In February, 2004, Omega had the most unforgettable advertising campaign ever since the first launch of “My Choice” and Omega ambassadors in 1995. In this advertising campaign named “Choices”, a more lifestyle element had been added through the visual design, camera angle and special lighting. It represented the idea of connecting the watch with the individual customer’s lifestyle, and to reveal the true meaning of life - “Everyone’s dream begins with a choice.” This new ad also carried the values of Omega, including respect of the individual, respect of each personality, excelling and pursuing dreams restlessly. Omega believes that for those who love life and cherish dreams will be able to find the watch that matches their personality.

There is an amazing story behind every Omega watch. Omega has long become a legend with its elegant design, revolutionary technology and outstanding performance. In this seminar, Omega exhibited its new release of 2004 products to retailers, including the Olympic Collection which launches in time for the Athens Olympic Games and the “Double Eagle” 35mm version. Many Limited Edition watches were also introduced. To name a few, the Speedmaster celebrating the 35th Anniversary of the first moon landing and “The Legend” watch dedicated to Michael Schumacher for his sixth F1 world championship.

During this seminar, the retailers and executives from Omega head office and Omega China and Hong Kong were allowed to share thoughts on Omega’s business philosophy, marketing strategies and policies, through which the retailers gained full confidence in future cooperation with Omega. The seminar concluded with a grand banquet. Zhang Yu, a famous signer from Taiwan performed at the evening, which added another highlight to the seminar’s finale.
