Swatch Group CEO Nick Hayek among prominent guests at official reception at House of Switzerland in Turin


Turin, February 11, 2006 — Swiss Federal Councillor Samuel Schmid was in Turin this evening at an official reception held at the House of Switzerland. Among the prominent guests this was Nick Hayek, Chief Executive Officer of the Swatch Group. The Swiss firm is the world’s largest maker of finished watches and the primary player in, and supplier to, the Swiss watchmaking industry. Mr. Hayek and other leading representatives of Swiss industry, culture and sports were on hand at the House of Switzerland this evening to help inaugurate the Swiss representation at the Torino 2006 Olympic Winter Games. Mr. Hayek spoke at length with the former IOC President Juan Samaranch and presented Mr. Samuel Schmid with a Platinum Member Card for the OMEGA Lounge, the elegant hospitality facility located in the OMEGA Pavilion in the Galleria San Federico in the heart of Turin. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

The OMEGA PAVILION offers journalists and special guests of OMEGA a place to relax in comfort and to view live, big-screen coverage of events throughout the Torino 2006 Olympic Winter Games. Visitors are invited to view an Olympic Exhibition and to take a closer look at the luxury Swiss watchmaker’s special Olympic Collection chronographs and other fine watches at the OMEGA boutique. They may also choose to climb aboard the OMEGA bobsleigh and to have themselves photographed at the controls. OMEGA ambassors Gene Cernan, Michela Figini, Ellen MacArthur, Michael Phelps and Cindy Crawford are scheduled to visit and to meet with guests of OMEGA at the Lounge. The OMEGA Lounge will host a great variety of special events ranging from live jazz to wine tastings during the Torino 2006 Olympic Winter Games.
