As the Olympic Torch Relay approached Turin in the days preceding the Opening Ceremonies of the Torino 2006 Olympic Winter Games, Swatch Group CEO Nick Hayek took up the Olympic Flame in Chivasso-Torino, Italy, carried the Torch through the centre of town and handed over to Italian TV celebrity and home-town girl Simona Ventura, who in turn passed the Flame to OMEGA President Stephen Urquhart. Commenting on his turn with the Torch, Mr. Urquhart said: “To carry the Olympic Flame was an honour, and an experience I will never forget.
