On Wednesday 9 August 2006, Kim Gevaert won a gold medal and the title of European Champion in the women’s 100 m in Göteborg. Omega wants to be among the first to congratulate her, and is pleased at having chosen the Belgian athlete as Omega Ambassadress.

Kim Gevaert continues to defend her place in the spotlight. She has just been officially appointed Ambassadress for the Omega brand for Belgium-Luxembourg, and today she is wearing gold and making headlines in all the papers and on all TV channels.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

The young champion has just written one of the greatest pages in the history of Belgian track. 35 years after Karel Lismont and 44 years after <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Gaston Roelants, Belgium can again boast of taking the highest rank on the podium in European athletics.

Eric Vanderhoeven, Omega brand manager for Belgium and Luxembourg says: “When we asked Kim Gevaert to become our ambassadress, of course we were not just thinking of her natural grace, elegance and the sympathy the public has for her. We also knew we were dealing with an exceptional champion, whose drive to win and positive competitive spirit correspond perfectly to the image of our trademark. And she has just proved it again. The entire Omega team is very proud to say bravo, Kim!”
