Michelle Wie Finishes 2nd in 1st Event as LPGA Member

Golfer Michelle Wie, who has been an OMEGA ambassador since 2006, enjoyed an impressive 2nd place finish at the SBS Open tournament in Hawaii.

Wie was tied for the lead with Angela Stanford going into the final round; Stanford went on to win the championship.

It was Wie’s first tournament as a member of the LPGA, after earning her Tour card at the LPGA qualifying school late in 2008 and she was pleased with her result. “I think it was a good start, I played solidly," said Wie. "It's just going to motivate me to work harder to go to the next level.”

Wie, who is still only 19 years old, went on to say, "I feel pretty good with my game. Obviously, right now I am a little disappointed, but I can take a lot of positive thoughts from this week. I know what I have to do to go to the next level. Missing the trophy by a little bit is going to motivate me to work even harder for the next one."

Michelle’s friends at OMEGA congratulate her for her outstanding play and wish her continued success for the rest of the year.
