Miguel Angel Jimenez of Spain is presented with the OMEGA Dubai Desert Classic trophy by His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum in the presence of Mr. Raynald Aeschlimann, Vice President, OMEGA, the title sponsor of this year’s Dubai Desert Classic, which went down in history as one of the most thrilling golfing contests of all times.

The prestigious Gold Seamaster Aqua Terra Co-Axial Chronometer was presented to the winner together with the Arabian coffee-pot shaped tournament trophy, following a thrilling final day which required three play offs between the Spaniard and Europe number one Briton Lee Westwood, both tied at 11 under par at the completion of the fourth round.

This was the first time in the event’s 21-year history that the Dubai Desert Classic had an internationally renowned brand as its title sponsor in a deal which will continue for the next four years as "OMEGA Dubai Desert Classic".

"We are delighted to present this exquisite timepiece to Jimenez. OMEGA’s title sponsorship of Dubai Desert Classic is in line with our global marketing strategy of targeting high profile sporting events staged in high-growth markets," said Mr. Raynald Aeschlimann.

OMEGA to present a Seamaster Aqua Terra Co-Axial Chronometer to the winner of the Dubai Desert Classic.

The stunning Seamaster Aqua Terra Co-Axial Chronometer is distinguished by the "teak-concept" vertical lines on its dial which are reminiscent of the wood decks of luxury boats. The winner’s watch is presented with an 18 Ct red gold case and a brown leather alligator leather strap.

What is inside the 41.5 mm case is every bit as impressive: the watch is equipped with OMEGA’s exclusive Co-Axial calibre 8501, one of the movements which signalled a revolution in the way mechanical wristwatches are being made. Its official certification as a chronometer is a testimony to its outstanding timekeeping performance.

The Co-Axial calibre 8501 is well suited to professional golfers whose careers take them all over the world. The hour hand can be changed independently of the other hands, making adjustments to different time zones very easy.

The Aqua Terra Co-Axial Chronometer features a sapphire caseback which makes it possible to watch the movement in action and to marvel at its exquisite detail. The watch is water-resistant to 150 metres (500 feet).

OMEGA’s Seamaster Aqua Terra watches have attracted an enthusiastic following with their artful blend of innovative technology and elegant but sporty design. As much at home on the decks of the luxury boats recalled by their dials as they are on the golf course, they truly live up to their name.

The winner of this year’s OMEGA Dubai Desert Classic will claim not only the tournament’s championship trophy and check, but also an extraordinary timepiece crafted by the tournament’s title sponsor.
