OMEGA takes on Official Timekeeping role at 11th FINA World Championships (25m) in Turkey

There is high anticipation for world records over the next five days at the 11th FINA World Swimming Championships (25m) in Istanbul.

From 12-16 December, elite swimmers, including OMEGA ambassador and Olympic gold medallist Chad Le Clos, will compete in this edition of the short-course swim competition, the first global meet following this summer’s Olympic Games.

OMEGA, as official partner of FINA, will serve as Official Timekeeper during the event using the latest technology which was developed for and introduced at the London 2012 Olympic Games. This innovative technology includes the Quantum Timer, the state-of-the-art touchpads and the false-start detection system.

In addition to South Africa’s Le Clos, the list of world-ranked swimmers participating in the event include USA’s Ryan Lochte - who won the 10th edition of the competition in 2010 in Dubai - and China’s female swimming sensation Shiwen Ye.

The 11th FINA World Swimming Championships (25m) will be held at the Sinan Erdem Arena, Turkey’s largest multipurpose indoor venue. The country is hosting the event for the first time.
