More than 150 guests accepted OMEGA Austria's invitation to the screening of the documentary film Planet Ocean, which was shown in the historical rooms of the Naturhistorisches Museum Vienna with its breathtaking dome in the entrance hall. Omega supported the production of the film, which was directed by Yann Arthus-Bertrand and Michael Pitiot. It will be available in Austria on DVD and Blu-ray on 31 January 2013.
The guests were welcomed by greetings from Yann Arthus-Bertrand.
Prior to the showing of the film, a discussion about the marine pollution took place with Prof.Dr. Jörg Ott and Dr. Michael Stachowitsch, both from the Department of Marine Biology at the University Vienna, Dr. Daniel Abed-Navandi from Haus des Meeres Wien and Dr. Frank Zachos of Naturhistorisches Museum Wien. They finished their speeches with suggestions of how everybody could help protect the oceans. The guests, including Austria's 2008 Olympic swimming medalist Mirna Jukic, were impressed by the film and its compelling images but also by the message that the responsibility for the environment and the oceans is shared by everyone on Earth.
