OMEGA onsite in Sochi as Official Timekeeper of FIBT World Cup

Equipped with the most advanced timekeeping equipment, OMEGA travels to the final stop of the FIBT Bob and Skeleton World Cup tour.

The finale in a series of nine international FIBT World Cup events will be held in Sochi this week from 15 to 17 February, and OMEGA will once again be onsite as Official Timekeeper in the 2014 Olympic Winter Games host city to measure the results of the world’s fastest bobsleigh and skeleton athletes.

The FIBT World Cup kicked off on 8 November, 2012 in Lake Placid, New York and has been hosted at various ski resorts and winter sports areas in North America and central Europe throughout the 2012-13 winter season.

All five events – men’s and women’s 2-man bobsleigh, men’s 4-man bobsleigh, and men’s and women’s skeleton – will take place at Sochi’s “Sanki” Olympic Sliding Center at the Alpika Service Mountain Ski Resort. The 1,500-metre course will also be used during next year’s Winter Games for bobsleigh, skeleton and luge events.

In 2002, OMEGA signed a multi-year agreement with International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation and since then has served as Official Timekeeper and Official Partner of the FIBT World Championships and FIBT World Cup. The brand looks forward to the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games where it will also serve as Official Timekeeper for the 26th time since 1932.
