OMEGA, the prestigious Swiss watchmaker, comes to Rio de Janeiro with two Boutique openings this week at the Shopping Leblon and Village Mall.
The two strategically-located OMEGA Boutiques in Rio can both be found at prestigious addresses where customers will find an intimate and personal shopping experience in an incredible setting.
The OMEGA Boutiques will offer the brand’s entire selection of products, including each of its luxurious watch lines, and fine leather and jewellery collections.
The new OMEGA Boutiques in Rio de Janeiro are an important part of the brand’s retail strategy. In December of 2000, Nicolas Hayek, the Chairman of Swatch Group, made a bold announcement at the grand opening of the first OMEGA Boutique in Zurich, stating that OMEGA’s ambitious goal was to extend the corporate boutique network to include 50 retail shops devoted exclusively to OMEGA products within ten years. By 2008, OMEGA had already met that target.
A third OMEGA Boutique, located in the Shopping Cidade Jardim in Sao Paulo, opened its doors in March.
“There are a number of reasons for us to build up our network in Brazil. As OMEGA looks forward to the upcoming Rio de Janeiro 2016 Olympic Games where we will serve as Official Timekeeper for the 27th time, it is very important to establish our brand in Brazil, especially in the major cities. We are confident that it is an ideal time to make this major commitment there”, said OMEGA President Stephen Urquhart.
Brazil, known for its exciting and vibrant culture, represents a key market for OMEGA. Rio de Janeiro will host the next Olympics Games in 2016, an international event with which the brand has a longstanding relationship.
Inside the OMEGA Boutique
When visitors enter the OMEGA Boutique, they will be warmly greeted by a staff specializing in the 165-year-old watchmaker’s product spectrum.
The fine products are presented in display cases and wall cabinets finished with “champagne gold” glass upon which OMEGA’s logos and markings are applied with an acid-etching technique. The counter showcases are finished with exotic brushed anigre wood. The glass and woodwork surfaces have been exquisitely crafted to fit smoothly and seamlessly together.
The OMEGA De Ville Ladymatic, the brand’s growing line of exquisite and fashionable mechanical watches for women, will also be available at the boutiques.
The two Rio de Janeiro OMEGA Boutiques feature the brand’s global design concept, a façade that is shared by every OMEGA Boutique around the world. The design concept is presented in the window displays and interior design of the boutiques and has been conceived around the themes of the sun, water, earth and time. Brilliant lighting illuminating the products in the show window represents the sun’s energetic light rays.
Below the displays, chiselled and silvered glass represents an exposed cross section of the earth, which conveys a history of time.
