Olympian, World Champion Chad le Clos selected as Nanjing 2014 Youth Olympic Games ambassador

OMEGA’s ambassador will share advice and experience with the next generation of young athletes

The International Olympic Committee has announced today that Chad le Clos has been selected as an official Nanjing 2014 Youth Olympic Games Ambassador.

The one-year countdown to the Nanjing 2014 Youth Olympic Games is well underway and OMEGA looks forward not only to serving as Official Timekeeper at the second edition of the these Games but also to supporting Chad le Clos in his role as Youth Olympic Games Ambassador.

Speaking about his nomination, Chad, who won five medals at the inaugural Youth Olympic Games in Singapore in 2010, said: “The Youth Olympic Games were a huge stepping stone for me and helped me enormously in preparing for the pressures of my first Olympic Games in London. But more than the sport, the memories and friends that I made will last forever, and I’m excited to be part of the YOG experience once again.”

The 21-year-old South African swimmer was welcomed to OMEGA’s family of brand ambassadors in 2011 after his performance at the Youth Olympic Games in Singapore in 2010. He went on to win gold in the 200m butterfly event at the London 2012 Olympic Games. Earlier this year, Chad took home two world championship titles at the FINA World Championships in Barcelona before setting a new world record for the short-course 200m butterfly at the FINA Swimming World Cup in Eindhoven, Netherlands.

OMEGA is proud to work with such an inspiring and talented athlete and congratulates Chad on his selection as a Nanjing 2014 Youth Olympic Games Ambassador.
