Apollo 16 astronaut General Charlie Duke is one of only 12 human beings ever to leave a footprint on the lunar surface. On Saturday 14th December, the moonwalker was joined by author and space expert Ed Buckbee at an event at Chong Hing Jewelers in San Gabriel, California where they met with VIP customers.
General Duke shared stories about his experiences on the surface of the moon and also made particular reference to seeing the “dark side of the moon”, which has lent its name to a dramatic new OMEGA Speedmaster model released earlier in 2013. Author and space expert Ed Buckbee, who was a NASA publicist for many years, also shared interesting anecdotes with enthusiastic guests.
In addition to the distinguished speakers, the event featured a lunar rover replica, an Apollo 10 spacesuit and a Mars rover. Visitors to the event were introduced to the entire OMEGA Speedmaster collection and the brand’s other fine timepieces.
