OMEGA, the prestigious Swiss watchmaker, comes to Hawaii as the brand’s new flagship store opens at the Royal Hawaiian Center.
To mark the opening OMEGA held a traditional Hawaiian blessing ceremony at the store. The 3,841-square-foot, two-level OMEGA Boutique will offer the brand’s entire selection of products, including each of its luxurious watch lines and fine leather and jewelry collections.
The Royal Hawaiian Center OMEGA Boutique is an important part of the brand’s retail strategy. In December of 2000, Nicolas Hayek, the Chairman of Swatch Group, made a bold announcement at the grand opening of the first OMEGA Boutique in Zurich, stating that OMEGA’s ambitious goal was to extend the corporate boutique network to include 50 retail shops devoted exclusively to OMEGA products within ten years. By 2008, OMEGA had already met that target.
The Royal Hawaiian Center store, one of three OMEGA Boutiques to open its doors in 2014, is a central component of the next phase of the brand’s retail growth. Since 2010, OMEGA has opened 30 boutiques across the United States.
“OMEGA loves to have boutiques in places that inspire us,” said OMEGA President Stephen Urquhart. “Hawaii is both a natural wonder and a key market for luxury retail. It was just a matter of time before OMEGA landed on its shores.”
Inside the OMEGA Boutique
When visitors enter the OMEGA Boutique, they will be warmly greeted by a staff that specializes in the 166-year-old watchmaker’s product line.
Beyond the sales areas are special displays with showcases featuring seasonal products and selections from the Fine Jewellery and Fine Leather collections. There are also designs dedicated to special launches.
The OMEGA Dark Side of the Moon, the brand’s new black ceramic Co-Axial Speedmaster, will also be available in the boutique.

The Boutique offers expert consultation on all OMEGA products. The members of the specially-trained staff at this OMEGA Boutique in Hawaii are enthusiastic about sharing their unparalleled knowledge of one of the world’s most respected watch brands.
The Royal Hawaiian Center OMEGA Boutique features OMEGA’s global design concept, a façade found in each of the brand’s boutiques located around the world. The design concept is presented in the window displays and interior design of the boutique and has been conceived around the themes of sun, water, earth and time. Brilliant lighting illuminating the products in the show window represents the sun’s energetic light rays.
A stroke pattern above the displays casts shadows and reflects light – a perfect depiction of clouds, which gather water and generate rain. Vertical tracks express rainfall, the rain symbolizes time which is never still and never returns in exactly the same form.
Below the displays, chiseled and silvered glass represents an exposed cross section of the earth, which conveys a history of time.
