OMEGA dives into Kazan as the Official Timekeeper of the FINA World Championships


On Friday, July 24th, the opening ceremony of the 16th FINA World Championships signalled the start of this year’s tournament in Kazan, Russia.

As the world’s greatest aquatic athletes gather again, OMEGA will bring its long experience in timekeeping and data handling to the competition, ensuring precision and performance in every event, including swimming, water polo, diving, open water swimming, high diving and synchronized swimming. 

OMEGA has been at the forefront of international competitive swimming for many years, and in addition to its timekeeping activities, is responsible for the development of some of the key technologies used to determine and record the results. These include the first semi-automatic timer for swimming events, and the famous touchpads positioned at both ends of the pool lanes.

Running until August the 9th, the FINA World Championships are the premiere event on the swimming governing body`s calendar, and are held every two years. OMEGA is looking forward to another memorable tournament where history will once again be made in the pool.
