Rio dresses to impress for "OMEGA House of Fashion" with Alexandre Herchcovitch

“OMEGA House of Fashion” was the big event on Saturday night at OMEGA House in Rio de Janeiro. The evening attracted an elegant and stylish crowd including an impressive guest list of VIPs and Olympic Games athletes.

Leading the celebrations was OMEGA’s guest of honour for the evening, Alexandre Herchcovitch. The Brazilian fashion designer has made headlines recently for creating the gold sequined column dress that Gisele Bündchen famously wore during the Rio 2016 Opening Ceremony.

Herchcovitch stepped onto OMEGA’s red carpet and began the evening by talking about his iconic creation. “The whole process of creating Gisele’s dress took more than four months. I spoke a lot with Gisele because she knows exactly what she likes and doesn’t like to wear. Of course, the main inspiration was The Girl from Ipanema. But when I saw it during the ceremony, I felt very emotional. I knew it was a very important part of the show. They had told me that. I’d felt like it was a huge responsibility and it was very very emotional to finally see it out there.”

Once inside the House, Alexandre mingled with guests surrounded by OMEGA’s own unique interior
design that included a gold dusted black carpet and champagne bar.

Throughout its history, OMEGA has created many of the world’s most fashionable watches, with beauty dedicated to both the inside and outside of every piece. Today, the watches are worn by renowned film stars, supermodels, Olympic Games athletes and anybody who appreciates excellent quality and craftsmanship. OMEGA’s own fashion-savvy brand ambassadors include George Clooney, Daniel Craig, Nicole Kidman, Eddie Redmayne and Cindy Crawford.

Speaking of Olympic Games athletes, several were spotted within the crowd at OMEGA House on Saturday night along with other guests including Brazilian artist Vik Muniz and actress Camila Pitanga.
President and CEO of OMEGA, Raynald Aeschlimann, gave his thoughts as the House began to fill for another busy and entertaining night. “Watches are a subtle yet important part of fashion and OMEGA has all the credentials to complement any style. We certainly have a lot of beautifully dressed people here tonight and, once again, it’s a fantastic opportunity to give this city a place to celebrate and to also see the best watches that OMEGA has to offer.”

With the Olympic Games ticking over into its second week, OMEGA House is picking up the pace with another full week of events. The House is located inside Casa de Cultura Laura Alvim on Ipanema Beach and is proving to be one of the most enjoyed nightspots in Rio.
