NEW YORK, NY (June 19, 2001) - PGA TOUR Professional and OMEGA Ambassador, Ernie Els, hosted OMEGA's Casino Night on the Green, an evening of gambling and golf where the stakes were high and guests were able to try their luck, both on the putting green and at the craps table. The lavish event took place at Grand Central Terminal's Campbell Apartment in New York to launch OMEGA's new Limited Edition Golf Constellation watch and to celebrate OMEGA's most recent partnership as the Official Timekeeper of the PGA TOUR and SENIOR PGA TOUR.
The Campbell Apartment was transformed into OMEGA's very own and very exclusive country club and casino. Outside "on the green", guests were greeted by OMEGA "caddies" and served a uniquely concocted, green "Hole in One" cocktail as they stepped up to the "tee" on OMEGA's specially designed putting green. Inside the "club house", guests savored fine cigars and sumptuous hors d'oeuvres as they tried their hand at craps, black jack and roulette "for the green".
The roulette wheel was spinning, the dice were rolling and guests were cheering throughout the evening. Upon entering, each guest received $3,000 in custom made, Ernie Els fun money in $100 denominations. Red and White OMEGA chips of $100 and $500 were distributed to the high rollers competing for a variety of prizes, including: Baccarat crystal golfers, TaylorMade golf clubs, Marc Blackwell New York Northern Hemisphere Martini Glasses, weekly passes to the Buick Classic and the grand prize, an OMEGA Limited Edition Golf Constellation.
Later, ten randomly selected winners had the opportunity to putt against Mr. Els on the custom made putting green for another chance at a Limited Edition Golf Constellation. Three guests sunk a hole-in-one and after a playoff, one lucky winner sunk a second hole-in-one, earning himself top honors as Mr. Els presented him with his new OMEGA.
The new Limited Edition Golf Constellation combines the elegance of a luxury timepiece and the functionality of a sports watch, epitomizing the classic style of OMEGA. Designed specifically with the golfer in mind, the customary white dial of the legendary Constellation has been replaced with a special dial designed with the same pattern found on the surface of a regulation golf ball. Adding to the sensibility of this sporty timepiece, a date indicator has been included at the 3-hour mark on this inimitable dial.
Golf represents timing, power and accuracy, the same qualities on which OMEGA has built its unmatched reputation. For that reason, OMEGA made a natural transition into the world of golf with the launch of its exciting international advertising campaign featuring Ernie Els in 1995.
Most recently, OMEGA has been announced as the Official Timekeeper of the PGA TOUR and SENIOR PGA TOUR. As the Official Timekeeper, OMEGA will supply official timekeeping clocks at the majority of PGA TOUR events, becoming, an integral part of the PGA TOUR event's timing system. Reinforcing the partnership, OMEGA will erect beautifully sculptured, permanent glass clocks enhancing each of the 21 Tournament Players Club courses.
