OMEGA Unveils New Ad Campaign with Tennis Star Anna Kournikova


Tennis star Anna Kournikova added time to her busy schedule today as she announced her newest off-court partner - OMEGA - during a special press conference that was held at the ESPN Zone. The prestige watchmaker was pleased to have the tennis star as their guest while they introduced her as the new face of OMEGA by debuting her new advertising campaign for the brand on a 60' x 60' billboard that stands high above Times Square.

President of OMEGA US, Mr. Robert Emmons, opened the program and welcomed the press before turning the microphone over to President of OMEGA Ltd., Mr. Stephen Urquhart who gave a brief overview of the brand's objectives regarding the new partnership with Anna. Mr. Urquhart commented: "Anna has a unique character which fits in perfectly with the OMEGA philosophy: she performs with precision and stamina on court, yet remains the epitome of style and elegance off court - the same juxtaposition as we see in our watches, with our precision movements encased in the contemporary style and classic elegance of our watch designs. As we can see with Anna and our other ambassadors, and not least with our watches, this combination is a winner." Anna Kournikova then joined Mr. Urquhart on the press conference panel to help unveil her new billboard.

Although the outdoor billboard was located a few blocks away from the press conference, the real time footage of the unveiling was sent into the ESPN Zone via satellite where it was broadcast live on a 16-foot video screen. The new campaign featured on the billboard and in all subsequent advertising was shot by famed French photographer Christophe Kutner and includes the new OMEGA Constellation Carr? watch. While New Yorkers were the first to catch a glimpse of the new ad, the rest of the country will see the campaign as it continues to roll out with print advertisements in December's magazines, including but not limited to: Esquire, Worth, Smart Money and the New York Times.

The newly designed Constellation Carr? was developed especially for Anna Kournikova and therefore is an accessory de rigeur for those with their fingers on the pulse of fashion. These highly desirable timepieces meet the highest demands of the fashion-conscious, incorporating precious materials in a contemporary design. The new gold versions of the successful Constellation Carr? collection, with coloured satin-look straps that match the pastel hues of the mother-of-pearl dials, will be available later this month at select retailers.

World-renowned Swiss watchmaker, OMEGA has added Anna Kournikova to its prominent family of ambassadors, which includes such luminaries as Cindy Crawford, Pierce Brosnan, Martina Hingis and Ernie Els. The tennis star is a popular figure both off the court and on it and the world's media follow her with an eagerness that they would normally reserve for supermodels.
