Little over four weeks into the New Year and Ernie Els has already chalked up his third victory, beating stiff competition to take the Heineken Classic trophy
Els followed average first and second rounds with a 66 on Saturday and 7 under par 65 on Sunday to take victory with a 15-under total of 273, beating Nick Faldo and Peter Lonard by one stroke.
Ernie Els has only played four tournaments so far this year and his worst finish was second at the Singapore Masters last week, following back-to-back victories on the PGA Tour in Hawaii.
The South African believes this run of exceptional good form is due in particular to his work with Jos Vantisphout, his sports pyschologist, and admitted to being surprised that the changes on the mental side have brought to his game.
Ernie avoided being dragged into speculation about a show-down with Tiger Woods and will now relax with his family for the next week before the Johnnie Walker Classic in Perth.
