Double victory for OMEGA!

This weekend has been legendary for OMEGA's two main sports personalities, Michael Schumacher and Ernie Els.

Michael Schumacher has now clinched a record-equaling fifth F1 World Championship after wining the French Grand Prix at Magny Cours this weekend. His triumph gives him a third successive drivers' crown and a fifth title, matching the legendary Juan Manuel Fangio. With this victory he has also wrapped up the Championship in record time, with six races of the 2002 season still remaining. He now goes down in history, 33 years after his watch, the OMEGA Speedmaster, became the first and only watch worn on the Moon in July 1969!

A few hours after Michael's victory, another OMEGA Ambassador also made history. Ernie Els beat the world's leading golfers including Tiger Woods (who was striving for his third successive Major victory) to win the British Open Championship for the first time after his two victories at the US Open. A victory which now gives a new dimension to the OMEGA European Masters which will be held in Crans Montana (SUI) on Sept. 5-8 in the presence of the reigning British Open champion!
