World famous Swiss watch manufacturer OMEGA organized a special presentation ceremony to award the winner of its James Bond competition with the coveted first prize in his home town: Dr Mark Rawlings, from Helsinki, will be the envy of many as the owner of the OMEGA Seamaster Professional watch that was actually worn by Pierce Brosnan during the filming of "Die Another Day".
The OMEGA James Bond competition, a two-round internet quiz in which entrants had to prove their knowledge of Bond trivia by answering questions spanning all of the films, recorded an outstanding 60 000 entries. Yet there could be only one first-prize winner and Dr Rawlings was the lucky name drawn by OMEGA President Stephen Urquhart at the company's head office in Bienne on 28 April.
The OMEGA brand manager for Finland, Esa Mertanen, presented Dr Rawlings with his prize at OMEGA retailer Laatukoru Oy, in Helsinki. Dr Rawlings, an avid Bond fan who proudly wore his 007 cufflinks for the presentation, was delighted to receive the Seamaster Divers' watch which has numerous special features, including water-resistance to 300m, a unidirectional turning bezel, helium escape valve and official chronometer certification. The fact that it was also worn by OMEGA star ambassador Pierce Brosnan, eponymous hero of recent Bond movies during the filming of "Die Another Day", only adds to the unique and valuable nature of the prize.
