In fact the building was constructed to offer a respite from the pace of the city, with plants creating the living wall up to the top floor and forming a hanging garden within the atrium spaces.

The Nicolas G. Hayek Center plays host to seven Swatch Group brands. To get to the boutiques, visitors enter unique hydraulic elevators doubling as showrooms that bring them directly to the shops. Each of the seven boutiques has its own elevator. The top floor includes an exhibition and event space, and the greenery creates a sort of oasis in the heart of one of the world’s busiest and most exciting cities.
The Nicolas G. Hayek Center, which was created and built under the leadership of the Japanese architect Shigeru Ban, is also home to the offices of Swatch Group Japan, and has three floors dedicated to after-sales service. La Cité du Temps on the 14th floor is dedicated to the interaction between the brands and the public, hosting exhibitions, concerts and press conferences.
