Description

The popular OMEGA De Ville Prestige collection has attracted a large and loyal following over the years with its classic, elegant design.

This stainless steel and 18K red gold model features a PVD linen colour sun-brushed dial on an embossed vertical structure that is encircled by a "railway" minute track. With a date window at 6 o'clock, the applied OMEGA logo, the alternating Roman numerals and cabochons are PVD blackened, along with the hands.

Surrounding the scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, the 18K red gold bezel is mounted on a 39.5 mm stainless steel case, which is presented on a grey leather strap. At the heart of this timepiece is the OMEGA Co-Axial Calibre 2500.

Red Gold

Gold in its pure form (24K) is slightly reddish yellow and very soft. It is usually alloyed with other base metals for a diverse variety of uses. Considered to be the premium standard in watch and jewellery making, 18K golds (with at least 75% pure gold) provides the ultimate balance between purity and usefulness. Traditional 18K red gold is alloyed with copper-silver and offers an excellent resistance to corrosion, while being highly bio-chemically inert. Known for its corrosion-resistance and high lustre after polishing, this material is often the ideal choice for watches in both daily-use and high-stress situations such as diving and adventure.

Sapphire Crystal

To really appreciate the finer details of a timepiece, OMEGA uses synthetic sapphire crystal with a highly scratch-resistant and anti-reflective treatment. Before the machining and finishing processes take place, the sapphire crystals are produced under the Verneuil process, also called flame fusion. It involves the melting of the raw substance using oxyhydrogen flame and the crystallisation of the melted droplets to form a cylinder. Graded 9 on the Mohs-hardness scale (graded 1-10), the resulting sapphire crystals are virtually scratch-proof and very hard, ensuring an unhindered vision at all times.
