Made in conjunction with the European Space Agency (ESA), OMEGA’s Speedmaster X-33 Marstimer is everything the name suggests.
Cased in grade 2 titanium, the unique 45 mm chronograph can display true solar time at any location on Earth and Mars. Made possible by a new microcontroller, developed and programmed to implement the equation of time for the two planets. This ability to display true solar time at any location allows the watch’s innovative solar compass to find true north on Earth and Mars with exceptional precision. The watch also displays the solar longitude of Mars as well as the mean solar time for three different locations (at the prime meridian + two user-defined locations): allowing for Mars’ 2.7% longer days.
Its classic black dial provides a contrasting backdrop for the multiple analogue and digital readings, made even clearer by Earth and Mars symbols to distinguish which particular functions are in use. Circling the dial is an oxalic anodized aluminium bezel ring in red hematite, reminiscent of Mars’ distinctive dust. This striking shade is also present on the seconds hand, which has a black to red hematite gradient.
Turning the watch over reveals a caseback embossed in the centre with OMEGA’s famous Speedmaster wording and Seahorse logo. Circled by the words SPEEDMASTER X-33 MARSTIMER, ESA TESTED AND QUALIFIED. Providing the power is OMEGA’s 5622 Calibre.
For those wishing to switch out the grade 2 and 5 titanium bracelet, the Marstimer also comes with a dedicated NATO strap. This is included in the special watch roll, which has a nod to the red planet on its inner lining: a reproduction of Hebes Chasma, a unique steep-sided canyon on the surface of Mars.
A bezel which can be turned clockwise or anti-clockwise. Rotating bezels can be used to time events, measure elapsed times, or read second or third time zones.

Movement
Calibre:OMEGA 5622
Highly precise, thermo‑compensated, multi‑functional quartz movement with special functions developed, tested and qualified by the European Space Agency (ESA). Calibrated to power multiple digital and analogue displays. Analogue functions include hours, minutes and seconds. Digital functions track time zones and date on Earth and Mars. The Mars functions can track the rover’s mission on the red planet, while the addition of a solar compass allows the watch to find true north on both Earth and Mars. Also included are traditional Speedmaster Skywalker X33 functions, such as MET (Mission Elapsed Time), PET (Phase Elapsed Time), Alarms and perpetual calendar.
Battery life:24 months
Type:Quartz

When it comes to reliability there’s no matching a movement bound by natural law. This watch’s internal workings uses the very precise frequency signal of a quartz crystal to display time. The movement is powered by a battery and extremely accurate. What’s more it takes up minimal space, allowing for slimmer watch designs.
Superior Precision
Our quartz movements are an electronic system that use the very precise frequency signal of a quartz crystal to display time. The movements are powered by a battery and are known to be extremely accurate.
Water-Resistance
To ensure the integrity of our timepieces at depth, not just some but all watches are fully immersed in water and pressure is applied up to the point of the guaranteed water resistance. By submerging each watch in water we have chosen – yet again - to exceed normal testing standards.
5-Year Warranty
In our quest to raise industry standards and push the boundaries of quality, all OMEGA watches are offered with a full 5-year warranty. This customer promise shows the confidence we have in the excellence of our timepieces, and provides extra trust and assurance when choosing your watch.
Less servicing
Quartz batteries can last between 3 – 5 years, providing plenty of time before a replacement is needed. With a quartz movement, you can be assured that less servicing on your watch will be required.
Shock-Resistance
During the homologation process, OMEGA watches are tested to the extreme. This phase includes shock examinations, to confirm reliability and to check that its precision is maintained after a severe impact. All OMEGA timepieces are designed to withstand shocks corresponding to a 1-metre drop on a hard wooden floor. For a standard 150g timepiece, this sudden and rapid acceleration is an equivalent force of up to 5,000 G on the watch head.

1 / 4
Grade 2 Titanium
Titanium alloys are light, corrosion-resistant, biochemically inert and able to withstand extreme temperatures. These properties make them particularly appropriate for products in the aircraft, spacecraft and medical sectors. They achieve the perfect balance between solidity, corrosion-resistance and workability. Grade 2 titanium offers a dim grey colour and suits mostly "brushed" finished pieces. It has featured in a number of OMEGA timepieces used for sport and space exploration, where light reflections should be avoided.

Grade 5 Titanium
Titanium alloys are light, corrosion-resistant, biochemically inert and able to withstand extreme temperatures. These properties make them particularly appropriate for products in the aircraft, spacecraft and medical sectors. They achieve the perfect balance between solidity, corrosion-resistance and workability. Grade 5 titanium offers a bright grey colour that is close to that of stainless steel, and suits both "brushed" and "polished" finishing.
3 / 4
Aluminium
Aluminium has the advantage of being a truly lightweight material used for decorative components. Through anodisation, it offers an extensive range of colours for the creation of eye-catching watch parts such as bezel rings, applied elements on the dial, and hands. In particular, OMEGA’s special anodisation process has achieved aluminium bezel rings that are nearly double as hard as regular versions, therefore making them more resistant to outer damage.
4 / 4
Sapphire Crystal
To really appreciate the finer details of a timepiece, OMEGA uses synthetic sapphire crystal with a highly scratch-resistant and anti-reflective treatment. Before the machining and finishing processes take place, the sapphire crystals are produced under the Verneuil process, also called flame fusion. It involves the melting of the raw substance using oxyhydrogen flame and the crystallisation of the melted droplets to form a cylinder. Graded 9 on the Mohs-hardness scale (graded 1-10), the resulting sapphire crystals are virtually scratch-proof and very hard, ensuring an unhindered vision at all times.
