Description

As part of the Five Deeps Expedition in 2019, the Ultra Deep made history when it reached the deepest place on Earth. Following that World Record dive, the game-changing watch has now been adapted for a unique collection available to the public. Tested in real ocean conditions during its development, the design is water-resistant to 6,000 metres (20,000 ft.) and meets the ISO 6425:2018 standard for saturation divers’ watches.

This 45.5 mm model in robust O-MEGASTEEL features a polished blue ceramic bezel with its diving scale in white enamel. Through the protuberant and domed sapphire crystal, the lacquered white dial has been given four Arabic numerals in blue, as well as 18K white gold hands and hour markers, which are all coated with white Super-LumiNova.

The watch is set on rubber strap with blue lining and an O-MEGASTEEL buckle, while on the caseback's Grade 5 titanium medallion, there is a laser-engraved Sonar emblem with the iconic OMEGA Seahorse at its centre. Inside, the watch is driven by the OMEGA Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 8912.

Twice as precise as any officially certified chronometer

Our Master Chronometer watches are tested and certified twice. First, the movement is Chronometer-certified according to international standard ISO3159, requiring a precision of -4/+6 second per day, following the tests at the Official Swiss Chronometer Control (COSC). Then, the watch head and its movement undergo eight Master Chronometer tests set by the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology (METAS) with criteria of 0/+5 seconds per day.

Less servicing

Expect fewer visits to the service centre. The Co-Axial escapement is designed to reduce friction inside the movement. As a result, less lubrication is needed and hence less servicing. Compared to non-Co-Axial watches, the intervals between getting your watch serviced will be much longer.

Shock-resistance

During the homologation process, OMEGA watches are tested to the extreme. This phase includes shock examinations, to confirm reliability and to check that its precision is maintained after a severe impact. All OMEGA timepieces are designed to withstand shocks corresponding to a 1-metre drop on a hard wooden floor. For a standard 150g timepiece, this sudden and rapid acceleration is an equivalent force of up to 5,000 G on the watch head.

Professional diving

Certified As A Divers’ Watch For Saturation Diving

To guarantee the Ultra Deep’s ability as a divers’ watch for saturation diving, the timepiece has been tested to meet the ISO 6425:2018 standard. Nine tests are performed and include examinations for Visibility, Magnetic-Resistance, Temperature Cycling, Salt Spray, Shock-Resistance, Water-Resistance, Free-Fall Shock, Resistance of Attachments, and Saturation Diving. METAS certifies that the watch has been tested in conformity with the required criteria.

Grade 5 Titanium

Titanium alloys are light, corrosion-resistant, biochemically inert and able to withstand extreme temperatures. Stripped of its nickel, and boosted with nitrogen and manganese, O-MEGASTEEL also offers a brighter white colour, as well as superior strength and a hardness that is 40% to 50 % higher than conventional steel. As well as being non-ferromagnetic, the unique composition also delivers exceptional resistance to corrosion for a longer-lasting appearance.

Liquidmetal^TM

Since 2010, OMEGA has bonded its ceramics with an alloy called Liquidmetal^TM, which offers new decoration possibilities in a metal grey colour with superior scratch-resistance and enduring stability. Composed of titanium, zirconium and copper, this amorphous alloy is three times as hard as stainless steel. When bonded with ceramic parts, Liquidmetal^TM can be offered in contrasting finishes (brushed or polished), thanks to the difference in hardness between the two materials.

Protecting the display of this watch is a unique sapphire crystal produced internally by OMEGA, using a specific process called EFG. “Edge-defined Film-fed Growth” creates a crystal that is absolutely defect free, to make the most of sapphire’s unique properties. Sapphire plates are grown, using the EFG process, then cut into discs, machined and polished, to create sapphire crystals of extraordinary strength and clarity, ensuring an unhindered vision of the display at all times.
